How to Prepare Braided Crepe Wool
- Un-braid the crepe hair and cut to the desired length.
- Wet the crepe hair and hand squeeze out excess water.
- Drape the wet hair over something to dry (a coat hanger works well for this)
You can apply small weights to the end to straighten the hair.
- When the crepe hair is fully dry (2-3 hours) use fingertips to pull fibers from one end.
- Set the pulled fibers aside.
As you pull more fibers lay them with the others you've pulled in a straight pile. (This is a good time to blend in other colors to make your beard look more natural.)
- If the fibers are still too curly you can use an electric iron on the wool setting to iron them flatter.
(Be careful with this--really straight hair may not look natural)
- You should now have a nice pile of crepe wool fiber ready to apply to the face.
- When working with the fiber use small bunches about the thickness of your thumb.
- Flatten the bunch slightly and cut one end with scissors for an even edge to apply to the face.
